Entering the Brand Innovation in Grocery Awards allows consumer brands to enhance product quality, increase sales, and build relationships with Europe’s leading grocery retailers through industry-recognized certification. The awards signify a remarkable level of excellence across various criteria and provide valuable recognition for outstanding products.
The judging panel for the Brand Innovation in Grocery Awards consists of experts from the grocery retail and FMCG sectors. They include retail consultants, packaging and brand design experts, industry analysts, and industry executives. The panel conducts a fair and thorough evaluation process to recognize product excellence in the grocery retail industry.
Judges independently assess each product based on criteria such as packaging, innovation, performance, relevance to consumers, value proposition, longevity, sustainability, market potential, brand communication, and overall impact on the industry. These factors are carefully considered to determine which products demonstrate exceptional excellence and deserve recognition.
The award tiers represent different levels of recognition for products. The Gold tier represents the highest level of recognition, signifying exceptional excellence in all evaluation criteria. The Silver tier signifies a significant accomplishment, while the Bronze tier recognizes products that have achieved a respectable level of excellence.
When a product receives accreditation from the Brand Innovation in Grocery Award, it signifies that the product has achieved a remarkable level of excellence across a diverse set of criteria, including packaging, innovation, longevity, value, relevancy, and quality.

The Brand Innovation in Grocery Awards are organised by the publishers behind ESM: European Supermarket Magazine, a leading publication for senior management, category buyers, and procurement directors within the European grocery retail and FMCG industries. ESM is focused on recognising and promoting excellence in products while providing valuable support and guidance to brands.

To participate in the Brand Innovation in Grocery Awards, you can start the application process by visiting the “Enter Products” page and providing the required information about yourself and your company.
After registering your products, an account executive will provide you with the delivery address and shipping details. You are responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of your samples to our establishment.
The costs associated with delivery, including taxes, import fees, and custom duties for the shipment of samples, are your responsibility. If any of these costs are invoiced to the Brand Innovation in Grocery Awards, we will promptly re-invoice you for the incurred expenses.
Please ensure an ample supply of products to accommodate the required number of servings, which will be specified in the instructions provided to you.
Each sample should be clearly marked with its corresponding product REFERENCE ID. However, kindly avoid writing this REFERENCE ID on the front packaging of the sample, as we would like to capture a visually appealing photograph of your product. You can find the REFERENCE ID on the invoice that was emailed to you after registration.

Please attach a label with the following information in English:

  • Addressed to: Madison Publications (address will be provided by Account Executive)
  • Description: Please provide a detailed description of each product.
  • Price: Indicate “No commercial value.”
  • Total price: 20 euros (Please do not state a higher amount to avoid additional taxes)
  • Additional information: Food samples for analysis, to be completely destroyed after analysis, No commercial value, DDP (Delivery Duty Paid)
Yes, please be aware that sending products containing animal-based ingredients into the EU is prohibited by law.
Shipping times may vary depending on the location and customs clearance process. Please allow sufficient time for shipment and customs clearance, which may take up to 2 weeks.
While we strive to ensure smooth shipping processes, any issues related to the shipment of the samples, including delays or damages, are not the responsibility of the Brand Innovation in Grocery Awards. It is your responsibility to ensure proper packaging and shipping arrangements.
